HISTORIC TERROIR IN ALSACE SINCE ROMAN EMPIRE ᄀV GRAND CRU EICHBERG AND PFERSIGBERG
At Eguisheim, the Ginglingerᄀᆭs family has been rooted in the history of the village. Since 1610, 13 generations of winemakers and wine gourmets have succeeded on the slopes of the hills at the foot of the Three Castles. Paul Ginglinger operates around 13 hectares of vineyards on slopes exposed to the east and southeast, at an altitude of 220-340m. It is sheltered by the foothills of the Vosges and enjoys a particularly warm and dry microclimate. The wine from these vineyards is structured, powerful, and represents a good life while maintaining their typical and floral aromas.
The Romans planted vines at city of Eguisheim in 58 B.C., on clay and limestone soil on hillsides, currently Grand Cru Eichberg and Pfersigberg vineyards, which are chose by the Romans because the area is in the sunniest corner of Alsace.
